Taryn has been involved with music her whole life. Her mother was a music teacher and started to train her in singing before she could talk. She was involved in children’s choirs and musicals from an early age. She graduated from Charleston Southern University with a degree in Vocal Performance and a Theatre minor in 2016. Prior to college, she attended a boarding arts school, South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, for singing. She has been in numerous productions, competitions, and workshops. During the summer of 2014 and 2016 Taryn placed as a semifinalist in the NATS competition (National Association of Teachers of Singing). Some of her principal roles include; Maria in West Side Story, Marian in The Music Man, Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, and Naomi from an original opera, Ruth. She currently performs with Small Opera Company in the Charleston area. |
Taryn’s teaching experience involves working at Holtz School of Music as a vocal instructor (2017-2018), instructing voice, choir, and theory for Carolina Music and Arts Conservatory summer program (2018) and running the Musical Theatre camp at Trident Technical College (2019) and is currently the music teacher for Sundrops Montessori School.

Taryn is a fun and energetic teacher and loves to work with all ages! She is easy going, relatable and bubbly which allows her students to feel comfortable. She loves to teach students singing and music theory with interactive games and movement. Not only will she teach different techniques of singing, she will also work on character development and acting the role. Taryn strives for her students to gain self-confidence and courage in their stage presence. She cannot wait to meet you!
