Melanie Morton, SC Music Lessons LLC Instructor - Pianist and Vocalist

Jordon plays piano, acoustic guitar, the folk and pedal harp, and sings. She has been singing since she can remember while trying any instrument within her reach. Jordon’s earliest memory of performance was offering a concert in front of the big oak tree at her grandparent’s house!  Her family encouraged her and offered diverse music experiences that inspired an appreciation for a wide variety of genres. Her mother introduced her to private piano and guitar lessons at a young age, and from then on, her love of music was nourished by teachers and the opportunity for expression and healing that music provides.

While at a Renaissance Festival, Jordon experienced a harpist sing and play in person for the first time. She was fascinated and spent many years convincing her parents to allow her to have a harp and take lessons! Fortunately, they realized she was sincere and found her a teacher and harp. She is forever grateful for that. Since then, Jordon has focused on harp and voice studies. This prepared her to be accepted to the University of South Carolina School of Music as well as the Horton School of Music and develop a full-time career with music.

Jordon graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in music therapy with a minor in psychology from Charleston Southern University. In her collegiate years she studied voice, pedal harp, piano, and acoustic guitar, receiving scholarships in voice and harp.  She has also studied improvisation, creative harping, and modal theory while earning her certification as a Therapeutic Harp Practitioner from the International Harp Therapy Program.

Jordon is a Board Certified Music Therapist at a hospital system and has worked as a professional harpist for over 10 years, playing and singing for weddings, churches, and communities.  She has worked with populations ranging from newborns to older adults. Jordon has taught private beginner harp lessons to adults for 5 years. She continues to write and arrange harp and guitar music for her therapeutic and performance practices. She believes that as we embrace our unique path, the way to learn and grow will unfold for us! She enjoys sharing her love of music and musical knowledge with students.
