As the daughter of a classical pianist, Erin has always been a lover of music and the creative arts. She began her musical training at age five through a Suzuki piano school and joined the school orchestra in 5th grade with the violin.
She graduated from the College of Charleston in 2007 and again in 2009 with a double B.A. in Music Theory & Composition and History. In 2012, she graduated from the Citadel Graduate College with a Master of Arts in Teaching and was certified through the South Carolina Dept. of Education. She taught at Palmetto Scholars Academy and Military Magnet for 3 years before venturing full time into her own private teaching enterprise that includes private studio lessons as well as social studies in a local home school co-op. In addition to teaching, Erin has performed professionally for weddings and private events in both the solo and ensemble setting with Lowcountry Pianist & Company LLC, has written, recorded, and released music projects independently and in collaboration with local indie rock artists, and is the Director of Musical Arrangements at Parkside Church. |
Erin's Teaching Style:
Erin's teaching mantra is "a student doesn't care how much you know until they know how much you care." Therefore, Erin strives to bring warmth and gentleness to her lessons and educate students at the heart level first. She is passionate about equipping students for the "real world" of music and enjoys establishing solid note reading and music theory comprehension as well as practical technique skills. She is also a huge fan of Disney music and would love to play a Frozen or Lion King duet with you or your child.
