Abby grew up in a musical family and began taking violin lessons at the age of 8. A few years later, she started learning the piano and frequently used her musical abilities in a variety of contexts: local nursing homes, worship services, Piccolo Spoleto, weddings, the Summerville Orchestra, and recitals with family and friends.

After graduating high school, Abby began pursuing a bachelor’s degree in music therapy from Charleston Southern University, which she will finish in the spring of 2022. While in college, Abby has been able to broaden her skills on the violin, piano, and guitar; she has also participated in several ensembles including the CSU women’s choir (Bel Canto) and chamber ensembles.
In her free time, Abby enjoys walking the beach, hiking, and spending time with family!

Abby's Teaching Style

Abby uses the Suzuki method for violin students and a variety of curricula for piano students; however, she enjoys helping students expand their repertoire to include pieces from genres outside of the classical realm. Abby also sees tremendous value in providing students with basic knowledge of music theory and works on scales, etudes, and other technique exercises with her students. In addition, Abby places an emphasis on musicality and expression so that students can bring the music to life and make it their own!
